scanning custom VSTs

upon start up ableton is scanning the custom vsts and will not open. has anyone had this happen to them. how do I get it to stop?

    Move all of your vst plugins to a new temporary location, fire up live and see if it starts fine. If it does then quit live, and add one vst plugin back into the original folder and fire up live again.
    Repeat this monotonous process until you find the vst culprit.
