seems like it will be a bargain, way cheaper than the xone 3d and the zero4.

Sun, February 3, 2008 - 3:12 PMno midi....cant use it to control midi parameters....its a dj mixer that you can plug your computer into without needing a soundcard/ rca interface
i was actually interested in this too just as a mixer for my turntables/cdjs..but i wanna wait until i hear what users think.. -

Re: mackie d:4
Tue, February 5, 2008 - 4:35 PMhmmm, well i guess no midi on this mixer doesn't bother me. I certainly don't want to spend an extra 500 bux for midi included in a mixer. this considering my x-session has done well enough handling my twiddling needs.
also, at this time, i don't feel confident in the EQ3 nor VST EQs. if anyone has any suggestions, hey change my mind. you might save me 900 bux.
i am also looking to read some user reviews before I decide to buy this, but alas, it is too new. this looks like the perfect mixer for me (I also use CDJ1000s), but isn't this only mackie's second mixer?
will mackie extend it's legecy into the DJ world? haha. anyways.
pretty stoked that it has it's filters built in.

Re: mackie d:4
Sun, March 2, 2008 - 3:53 PMI wanted to let you guys know that the d.4 does have one MIDI output -- the position of the crossfader is sent out over FireWire, and shows up as a MIDI controller input on the computer. In addition to the crossfader position, for channels assigned to the crossfader, note on and note off MIDI messages are sent when the crossfader is moved away from and back to the side that the crossfader is assigned to. This can be used to trigger samples, FX, etc.
More detailed information is on page 28 of the owner's manual:
