I dont know about Live 6 but is there a way to manage your files in Live 6 as in Live 7?
You can manage a project/set in Live 7 and auto import all the files you have referenced into the project folder.
You can also check for missing samples.
In Live 7 its view>file manager.

you probably moved the files ableton is referencing. When i have a project, i put any samples, clips, songs etc all into a new folder for that specific project. Track down whatever samples you are using on your computer, and make sure there is a live document (icon with a check in windows live7) along with the file.

I realize this reply is a bit late...but i'm sure someone else will have this problem.

Also, say you were doing a mix of all your own tracks. You mix them together, but then you make some mastering changes to one of the tracks. The live document is not identical to the new version of the track that you modified, so ableton won't read it properly.
